About Zaneta
Growing up in Maryland, Zaneta Grant started singing when she was 4, and wrote her first song at age 14. Since then, she has developed a style of songwriting that is all her own. Although the influence of mainstream R&B artists such as Adele and Alicia Keys can definitely be heard in her songs, Zaneta also enjoys blending elements of various Afro-Caribbean genres into her sound while using rich, soulful vocals to paint stories for her listeners.
After moving to Pittsburgh for school, she established the Independent Musicians Organization to help promote local musicians. In the process, she partnered with the members of the band Memphis Hill to plan and coordinate the Wilkins Block Party. Past lineups have featured bands such as Beauty Slap, Starship Mantis, and Eastend Mile, and the festival has attracted around 1,000 attendees in the past few years. April of 2018 marked the first time that Zaneta herself was a featured artist in the lineup.
In 2017, she won the Best Song Award in the IMO Hackasong, a competition in which groups were given 10 hours to write, compose, record, and perform an original song. That award-winning song ended up being the final piece for her debut EP, Sanity.
For her debut, Zaneta collaborated with rapper, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Benji. to produce Sanity, a concept EP about a year spent recovering from a relationship. Keep an eye out for more work from this dynamic artist. This is just the beginning of her story.
