About Zaneta

Zaneta Grant is a Maryland native, who started singing when she was 4, and wrote her first song at 14. She grew up listening to artists like Adele, Alicia Keys, and Jazmine Sullivan. She combines the influence of those soulful singers with elements of Afro-Caribbean genres to make sweet blends of R&B and Pop that tap into a wide range of emotions.

While going to school in Pittsburgh, she started the Independent Musicians Organization to help promote local musicians and partnered with the band Memphis Hill to plan and coordinate the Wilkins Block Party. Past lineups have featured artists like Beauty Slap, and Zaneta herself was a featured artist in the lineup in 2018.

In 2017, she and her group won the Best Song Award in the IMO Hackasong, a competition where teams were given 10 hours to write, compose, record, and perform an original song. That award-winning song ended up being the final piece for her debut EP, Sanity, which she worked on with rapper, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Benji. That was just the beginning of her story.
